Adversity & Self Reflection
This project for an editorial course was difficult yet refreshing. We were given so much freedom to work on a magazine topic of our choice, producing and entire issue with three articles. Besides the general flat plan, and restricting our designs to one typographic, one illustrative, and one photographic article, we had freedom to take risks and experiment. Our professor pushed us hard to think about our breadth of process more than the linear development. The environment of critique, discussion, and mentorship from the professor helped me be more confident in my ideas during a time when I was concerned about my abilities in comparison to my peers. By taking on this large project, I got to put my design sensibilities up on display and see where it took me.
